Identity & KYC
How Seev verifies the identity of businesses and individuals on the platform.
Before a business or individual can send or receive money through Seev, they must pass identity verification. This is a regulatory requirement — it is how Seev complies with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations across the markets it operates in.
Seev does not currently offer KYC as a standalone API service. The verification flow described here applies to merchants and users onboarding onto the Seev Business platform.
Why verification is required
KYC regulations require financial services providers to confirm who they are doing business with. This protects the platform from being used for fraud, money laundering, or financing prohibited activities — and it protects legitimate merchants from being on the same network as bad actors.
Verification is a one-time step during onboarding. Once approved, a merchant account can transact without repeating the process unless circumstances change (e.g. a significant change in business structure or a compliance flag).
What gets verified
Seev collects and verifies different information depending on the account type:
| Account type | What is verified |
|---|---|
| Individual / sole trader | Government-issued ID, proof of address, phone number |
| Registered business | Business registration documents, director/owner ID, proof of business address |
Documents are reviewed by Seev's compliance team. In most cases, verification is completed within one business day.
Verification states
An account moves through the following states during the KYC process:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
pending | The account has been created but verification has not been started. |
in_review | Documents have been submitted and are under review. |
verified | The account has passed verification and can transact. |
rejected | Verification failed. The account must resubmit with corrected documents. |
suspended | The account has been flagged post-verification and is temporarily restricted. |
Accounts in pending or in_review states can log in to the Dashboard but cannot initiate payouts or access live API keys.
